RESPONSIBILITIES
As the Survey Field Technologist, you will report to the Division Manager. The Survey Field Technologist is primarily responsible for completing field work assignments in accordance with industry regulations, and the procedures and technical standards set by Rouse Surveyors.
The Survey Field Technologist may also be responsible for the following duties:
- Assist the Manager in the development of methods and procedures for conducting field surveys
- Conduct field surveys and operate the Total Station and other computer equipment to measure distance, angles and elevations
- Record measurements and other information obtained during field survey activities
- Determine precise geographic locations using global positioning systems (GPS) equipment
- Record point cloud data using 3-D laser scanning equipment meeting accuracy requirements
- Prepare detailed drawings, charts, plans, survey notes and reports
- Supervise and coordinate field survey activities
- Daily inspection of equipment, ensuring everything is recharged, clean, and in good working order
- Adhere to all Health and Safety Policies and Regulations as per the Occupational Health and Safety Act and Rouse Surveyors Inc. Health and Safety Policy
- Maintain accurate timesheets and job records
- Other duties as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS
- Successful completion of a secondary school diploma is required
- Class G driver’s licence and clean driving record required
- Completion of a two-to-three-year college program in geomatics or land survey technology is desirable
- Certification by an Ontario association of technologists is an asset
- Strong communication skills: will need to clearly relay any problems, errors, questions and concerns to your Manager; will need to communicate with Site Superintendent and clients directly about survey requirements
- Good understanding of industry standards and the importance of adhering to them
- Critical thinking needed to identify potential problems before starting work on a site
- Detail-oriented; must be able to produce accurate work efficiently
COMPENSATION:
Rouse Surveyors offers a competitive salary and benefits.
Depending on experience, salary range is:
- JUNIOR LEVEL: $23 to $30 per hour
- SENIOR LEVEL: $30 to $35 per hour
